Unveiling Belgium’s First Low-Carbon Investor Barometer

Be the first to discover the exclusive results of the Low-Carbon Investor Barometer — Belgium’s new national benchmark tracking the real estate sector’s climate transition — during our Investor Exchange Morning on 2/12 at Wood Hub.

Conducted by Expertise News, in collaboration with Pulse and Belgian Green Building Council (BGBC), the survey brings together insights from real estate investors active in Belgium, representing over €42 billion in assets

It provides a clear view of how market players assess Belgium’s decarbonisation progress, the challenges they encounter, and the strategies shaping their low-carbon transition.

Genesis of the Low-Carbon Investor Barometer

As real estate faces increasing pressure to align with national and European climate objectives, market players lack a unified, data-driven view of where the sector truly stands.

Inspired by the success of the French Barometer of Business Immo presented at SIBCA in Paris, the Low-Carbon Investor Barometer was created to bring a similar, robust benchmark to Belgium.

Mission & Goals

The Barometer’s mission is to support a more transparent, evidence-based climate transition within Belgium’s real estate market. Its core goals include:

  • Mapping investor sentiment and expectations regarding the low-carbon transition.
  • Identifying key challenges hindering decarbonisation across asset classes with particular focus on office real estate.
  • Highlighting emerging strategies and best practices within the investor community.
  • Providing a reference point for policymakers and industry leaders to better target support and regulation.
  • Tracking changes over time, enabling the sector to measure progress year after year.

Ultimately, the Low-Carbon Investor Barometer aims to accelerate the sector’s journey toward a resilient, low-carbon built environment.
